Techniques for Plastering Lightweight Concrete Block Walls
Plaster thickness up to 1.5 cm:
You can plaster directly to the desired thickness. First, press and smooth a thin layer of plaster with a trowel, then add more plaster to reach the required thickness.
Plaster thickness between 1.5 and 2.5 cm:
Apply plaster to a thickness of 1–1.5 cm and wait until it sets to a damp stage. Then add the remaining plaster to reach the desired thickness and wait for it to set again. (Do not make the plaster too watery, as this may cause sagging.)
Plaster thickness exceeding 2.5 cm:
Cracking may occur later. It is recommended to install #125 wire mesh fully over the areas with thick plaster before applying the plaster layers.
When the plaster has set to a firm damp state, you can use a triangular trowel to level the surface, then fill in any low spots, level again, and finally do the finishing plaster work as needed.
After finishing the plaster, when it starts to set but is still damp and firm, you can spray water with a brush to create a smooth, bubbly surface texture immediately. After spraying water, it is recommended to brush the surface to achieve a smooth and beautiful finish.
